2012 to 2013 Taking It Back To Jump Rope

if you know anything about bwlp you might know that a BIG passion of mine is jump rope. as a matter of fact, it was one of the first disciplines pertaining to hip hop culture that i got 'roped' into. my second year of teaching entailed instructing and choreographing a fusion routine (synchronized music, dance and jump rope skills) with my 3rd grade class in Berkeley, CA. that was also the year David Walker invited me to be a guest and help out with the Double Dutch Classic that goes down every 1st weekend in December at the Apollo theater in Harlem. (to this day, y'all). Lauren Walker, current NDDL President, is definitely carrying on the legacy, and has been for the past several years. and just a quick fyi, David Walker passed two years ago, but he was the founder (along with his detective partner with NYPD, officer Ulysses) of the National Double Dutch League, and initiated the official rules of the sport that is now jump rope worldwide. to the right i have a few new cold crushes to add to my list: and acquaintance organization, Jumping for Joy, based in Santa Clara, CA, now known as the Sol Jumpers. and USA Jump Rope. It appears that as an organization, they have got their house in order and made a come-back- real strong. peep the Panther video. get ready to hear about my exploits in producing real hip-hop tracks designed for jump rope, inspired by the Duck Rock campaign of Malcom McLaren. but from a very West Oakland perspective. we have a culture and an extremely tight science emphasis in elementary education that will prove to turn things out! i feel very lucky to be a world citizen with a global attitude and the angelic spiritual support to tap and bring so many valuable resources to communities like West Oakland. it's looking like it's time to get busy. focus for the new academic year beginning in september 2012 to 2013 looks to include: more music production, a recordings project tied to the writing curriculum, double dutch fitness campaign through 3D Double Dutch Jumprope Arts, academic rigor, and science connections. much apologies for the extreme pause in information as of late, but life is flat out getting restructured around here. now up in the sweet little town of Albany, CA.
